Derby Run raises money for Community Hospice and Palliative Care in St. Johns County
The Derby Run, a benefit for Community Hospice & Palliative Care in St. Johns County, was recently held at St. Augustine’s Tringali Barn.
The annual event, now in its 13th year, celebrated the Kentucky Derby in all of its Southern charm complete with seersucker suits, bow-ties, wide rimed hats, bourbon and of course, mint julips.
Annie Tuttle, the foundation’s executive director, described the day as a wonderful opportunity to celebrate while supporting a cause.
“The Derby Run plays a vital role in ensuring that our neighbors and loved ones in St. Johns County continue to receive the compassionate care they deserve,” she told the St. Augustine Record via email. “The funds raised help us provide end-of-life care to those in need, with dignity, comfort, and support.”
“I absolutely love the Community Hospice & Palliative Care Derby Run because of its southern flare, friendly faces, and feel-good fun, all for an incredible cause,” said Alecia Bailey, Derby Run committee member. “This isn’t just a party, it’s a way for our community to rally together and support something meaningful. Every dollar raised helps provide compassionate end-of-life care right here in St. Johns County.”
Established in 1979, Community Hospice & Palliative Care helps 1,500 patients daily live with advanced illness at home, in long-term care and assisted living facilities, in hospitals and within its 10 inpatient care centers. No one is ever denied care because of an inability to pay.
